Create a LOG file using Notepad

You can use the below mentioned Notepad Trick to create a log-type file that adds an automatic timestamp (i.e. current date and time) each time the Notepad file is opened.

Below is the step-by-step process to create a LOG file in the Microsoft Notepad:

Step 1: Open Notepad (Go to Start then Choose Programs and then Accessories)

OR

Press Window Key + R to open run command and then type Notepad and then Press OK

Step 2: Type .LOG into Notepad

Note: .LOG must be in capital letters and also at the very beginning / first line (as shown in the below screenshot)

Step 3: Save this file by Save option in the File menu

Step 4: Close Notepad

Step 5: Open the saved file. Notepad automatically inserts current date and time after last line. (as shown in the below screenshot)

Step 6: You can type your data there for that time and date and Press Enter Twice (Enter is required to show the Date & Time with some line gaps as shown in the above screenshot)

Step 7: Save the file again.

Note : If you put a space before (.LOG) then this trick won't work.
